Green Desert (2013)

Original title: “Desierto verde”

Green Desert is a feature-length documentary about the production of food that reveals current processes in the farming industry, posing the need to shine a spotlight on the problems associated with this business, like deforestation, the desertification of soils and pollution from herbicides, pesticides and fungicides, commonly known as “agrotoxics”.

At Ituzaingó Anexo, a neighborhood on the outskirts of Córdoba city in Argentina, bordering soy fields, hundreds of people die of cancer due to pesticide poisoning. Concerned about their families’ and community’s health, a group of women starts to get together to take joint action. Once the “map of death” they draw reaches the public, an unprecedented trial begins for the first time.
